1. Listen to the track a few times. Try to understand the main point of the announcement.

2. Listen to the track again and try to answer more specific questions now.

 

Fragen: Ja-/Nein-Fragen und Fragewörter

In German, there are two types of questions:

Yes/No Questions: These are formed by inverting the subject and verb of a sentence. The answer to these types of questions is generally yes or no.

For example: Er fährt oft mit der Bahn. / Fährt er oft mit der Bahn?

 

 

Questions with Interrogative Pronouns: These are formed by using an interrogative pronoun (Fragewort), followed by the verb and the subject.

For example: Wann kommt der nächste Zug an?

Wo ist die Bushaltestelle?

The interrogative pronouns you have seen so far are:

Wer? Was? Wo? Wann? Wie? Wieviel?

1. Imagine that you are at the train station in Vienna. Brainstorm as many questions as possible with your partner. You can use the signs below to help you.
2. Next, get up and take turns asking your classmates the questions you have. Try to answer them as best as possible; if you don’t know how to say the answer, just reply “Ich weiß es nicht.”
