style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next few steps will lead you through a guided writing activity.\u00a0 At the end of the activity, you will have a series of sentences on a related topic, but the sentences probably won&#8217;t form a coherent text on its own.\u00a0 If you wish, or if your instructor directs you to do so, you could use each of these sentences as the heart of a short text.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should write 1 or 2 sentences for each step.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 1<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(an)statt &#8211; with or without the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an:<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this preposition implies a choice between two people, places or things, and refers to the one not chosen.\u00a0 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statt<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anstatt <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can be used interchangably.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beispiel:\u00a0 Anstatt when you saw or experienced resistance related to environmental topics.\u00a0 How can you use <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trotz<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to describe the person or thing doing the reisisting?<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 3<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">W\u00e4hrend <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">describes something that happens during an event.\u00a0 As a preposition, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">w\u00e4hrend<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is used with a noun in the genitive case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beispiel:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Umweltsch\u00e4den werden w\u00e4hrend der Restaurierung von Kunstobjekten entfernt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think about a time that you did something related to the environment during an event such as a class, protest, or other event.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 4<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wegen<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is used to describe the cause of something or a reason for something.\u00a0 The object of the prepositional phrase is the cause.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beispiel:\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br
