Here is a quick break-down. A <em>Pension<\/em>\u00a0offers its guests simple rooms, a light breakfast and limited services. They are generally cheaper and smaller than hotels. A <em>G\u00e4stehaus<\/em>\u00a0is similar to a <em>Pension<\/em>, but is found in more rural areas; a <em>Gasthof<\/em> has guest rooms and typically includes a restaurant. A <em>Hotel\u00a0<\/em>is larger and will have daily housekeeping services, a restaurant open to the public, and many amenities available to guests. Finally, a <em>Jugendherberge<\/em> is a hostel intended for teenagers and young adults traveling on a budget. When describing <strong>location<\/strong>, you need to use <em>bei<\/em> if you want to say that you are staying with someone. If you&#8217;re talking about a building (like a hotel, apartment, hostel, etc.), then use <em>in<\/em>.
