Denken Sie an Bilder, aber auch an Ger\u00fcche oder Ger\u00e4usche (zum Beispiel Musik). Ist es ein Ort und\/oder Menschen f\u00fcr Sie? Ist Heimat automatisch der Geburtsort? Kann ein Mensch mehr als eine Heimat haben? Hat man eine Heimat\/Heimaten oder macht man eine Heimat\/ Heimaten?<\/p>\n<h3>Lesen<\/h3>\n<p>Susi:\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heimat bedeutet f\u00fcr mich eine Umgebung und das muss sicher nicht nur die Familie sein, sondern auch eine Umgebung, in der Menschen sind, mit denen ich mich gut verstehe. Das hei\u00dft, f\u00fcr mich ist das nicht mit Blut oder Erde verbunden, sondern mit sozialen Beziehungen\u2014sicher nicht mit dem Boden oder mit Besitz.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Christian:\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heimat bedeutet f\u00fcr mich zum Beispiel meine Wohnung. Heimat bedeutet aber f\u00fcr mich auch meine Familie, mein Bruder, meine Schwester, meine Frau, ja, Heimat, meine Freunde. Dann auch alle die Pl\u00e4tze, wo ich mich wohl f\u00fchle, eigentlich, um das vielleicht anders zu beschreiben, Pl\u00e4tze, wo ich gerne bin, wo ich mich wohl f\u00fchle. Das muss nicht unbedingt \u00d6sterreich sein, das kann auch in Italien die Toskana sein, das kann in Spanien Andalusien sein, das kann in Deutschland Hamburg sein, das kann Berlin sein, also eine Vielzahl von Orten in Europa, wo ich mich heimatlich f\u00fchle.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Christine:\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heimat ist f\u00fcr mich sicher einmal Wien. Ich bin sehr verwurzelt, ich w\u00fcrde nicht gerne woanders leben. Aber Heimat ist \u00fcberall dort, wo ich mich wohl f\u00fchle. Heimat ist dort, wo die Menschen leben, die ich liebe und mit denen ich verbunden bin. Und das ist eben auch Wien.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Barbara: <em>Burgberg<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ist nicht meine Heimat in dem Sinne, dass ich hier geboren bin, aber ich kenne den Ort auch sehr gut, weil ich dort seit 20 Jahren lebe.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Arbeit mit dem Lesen<\/h3>\n<div class=\"h5p-iframe-wrapper\"><iframe id=\"h5p-iframe-149\" class=\"h5p-iframe\" data-content-id=\"149\" style=\"height:1px\" src=\"about:blank\" frameBorder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" title=\"Heimat Lesen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h4>Genre: Working with definitions<\/h4>\n<p>Because <em>Heimat\u00a0<\/em>is a complex term, the texts above try and define by contrasting elements of the concept (Susi) or by adding more aspects and giving examples (Christian and Christine). The last text explains the concept by stating what\u00a0<em>Heimat\u00a0<\/em>is not. Well, as you probably remember, an adjective describes a noun (or thing), whereas an adverb describes a verb (or an action). In English, you can sometimes turn an adjective into a noun by adding an &#8220;-ly&#8221; to the end: quick vs quickly. The fox was <em>quick<\/em>, but the fox ran <em>quickly<\/em>. <em>Quick<\/em> describes the fox itself, whereas <em>quickly<\/em> describes how the fox ran or its action. But in English, we also have some words that can only function as an adjective, like the word <em>good<\/em>, and some words that can only function as an adverb, like the word <em>well<\/em>:<em> the book I read was <strong>good<\/strong><\/em> versus <em>I read the book thoroughly and <strong>well<\/strong><\/em>. One describes the quality of the book while one describes the quality of the action.<\/p>\n<p>In German, an adjective can function as an adverb without any change to its form. How do you know which it is? From the context and the location of its placement. Look at these two examples:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Ich kenne meine Nachbarn <em>gut<\/em>\u00a0. [adverb: I know my neighbors well]<br \/>\nvs.<br \/>\nSie sind <em>gute<\/em> Nachbarn. [adjective: They are good neighbors]<\/p>\n<p>You can also tell adjectives and adverbs apart in German because adjectives that stand in front of a noun must take some kind of ending (see below), but adverbs never take endings. Here are a few examples of adverbs from the listening:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heimat bedeutet f\u00fcr mich, dass ich mich <em>wohl<\/em> f\u00fchle, dass ich mich <em>geborgen<\/em> f\u00fchle&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Wohl<\/em> and <em>geborgen<\/em> are both words that describe how Beate feels, and thus they are adverbs.<\/p>\n<h3>Time Manner Place (TMP)<\/h3>\n<p>Go back to the main lesson and read the <a href=\"https:\/\/grenzenlos-deutsch.com\/ort\/e2\/l6\/#Wortstellung_Time_Manner_Place_TMP\">information about word order (TMP)<\/a>.
