Zuerst einmal muss ich erkl\u00e4ren, dass ich in einem kleinen Dorf in Vorarlberg aufgewachsen bin. Wir haben in der Mitte des Ortes gewohnt und alles war eigentlich in der N\u00e4he unseres Hauses. Unser Haus war von Feldern umgeben, die einem Bauern, unserem Nachbarn, geh\u00f6rten. Wir haben viel auf seinen Wiesen gespielt, was er nicht immer mochte, vor allem, wenn er Heu gemacht hatte.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ich bin immer mit meinen beiden Geschwistern zur Schule gegangen. Barbara war zwei Jahre \u00e4lter als ich und Adrian zwei Jahre j\u00fcnger. Von unserem Haus sind wir zuerst am Haus unserer Nachbarn vorbeigegangen. Wir mussten bei ihrem Haus eine Treppe hinuntergehen, um zu einem Park zu kommen. Vom Park sind wir an der Kirche, dem Friedhof und am Gemeindeamt vorbeigegangen. Ein Gemeindeamt ist wie ein Rathaus in einer gr\u00f6\u00dferen Stadt. Die ersten zwei Jahre meiner Schulzeit bin ich in diesem Geb\u00e4ude auch in die Schule gegangen, aber dann gab es zu viele Kinder und wir haben ein neues Schulzentrum bekommen, wo nicht nur die Volksschule, sondern auch die Hauptschule untergebracht war. Neben dem Gemeindeamt lag das Geb\u00e4ude der Feuerwehr und der Bauhof. Dort hat meine Vater gearbeitet. Er war ein Ingenieur und hat f\u00fcr das Dorf die Wasserleitungen gemanagt. Dann kam man zum Gasthof Traube. Zwischen dem Gasthof und dem Friseur sind wir dann auf einen Feldweg abgebogen, der direkt bis Schulzentrum f\u00fchrte. Auf diesem Weg haben meine Geschwister und ich oft schon andere Kinder getroffen, die auch auf dem Weg zur Schule waren.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Auf dem Nachhauseweg von der Schule gab es eine Variante auf unserem Weg. Gegen\u00fcber dem Gasthof war die B\u00e4ckerei. Auf dem Heimweg sind wir oft \u00fcber die Stra\u00dfe dorthin gegangen. Denn an manchen Tagen gab es dort Geb\u00e4ck vom Tag davor, das der B\u00e4cker und die B\u00e4ckerin nicht mehr verkaufen wollten und an uns Kinder verschenkt haben. Wir haben uns immer abgewechselt, wer fragen musste, ob es auch an diesem Tag \u201cAltgebackenes\u201d gab. Es war uns irgendwie ein bisschen peinlich. Darum sind wir alle zusammen in die B\u00e4ckerei und wenn die Verk\u00e4uferin &#8220;ja&#8221; gesagt hatte, war es viel leichter, &#8220;ich auch&#8221; zu sagen oder einfach nur die Hand auszustrecken. Dann sind wir alle gl\u00fccklich unser Geb\u00e4ck essend nach Hause gezogen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Interviewer: <em>Gab es noch andere Gesch\u00e4fte in deiner Nachbarschaft?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Isolde: <em>Ja, an der Hauptstra\u00dfe gab es auch eine Metzgerei, eine Apotheke, eine Drogerie, einen Souvenirladen und eine Milchhandlung, wo man neben Milch auch Butter und K\u00e4se, aber auch andere Lebensmittel wie Reis und Nudeln kaufen konnte. Wenn meine Mutter mich dorthin zum Einkaufen geschickt hat, hat sie gesagt, dass ich zum Milch-Poldi gehen soll. Der Besitzer hie\u00df Leopold und war in der Vorstellung der Menschen so mit seinem Gesch\u00e4ft verbunden, dass es zu seinem Namen wurde. Als wir einen Supermarkt bekommen haben, war das eine kleine Sensation, aber dann auch fr\u00fcher oder sp\u00e4ter das Ende vom Milch-Poldi.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Abseits der Hauptstra\u00dfe war das Dorf nicht dicht besiedelt. Die Bauernh\u00f6fe liegen relative weit auseinander, was damit zu tun hat, da\u00df der Boden nicht so gut ist und die Ernten oft klein waren. The focus below is only on location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>an<\/strong> (+Dativ) \u2026 <strong>vorbei<\/strong> (adverb) &#8211; past (as in: to go past a building)<br \/>\n<strong>an<\/strong> (+Dativ) \u2026 <strong>entlang<\/strong> (adverb) &#8211; along (as in: to go along something, like a street or river)<br \/>\n<em>Gehen Sie an der Stra\u00dfe entlang bis an dem neuen Supermarkt vorbei.<br \/>\n<\/em>Achtung: After working with two-way-prepositions earlier, you might be wondering about the use of dative in these <em><strong>an<\/strong><\/em> constructions. Although there is movement involved in these constructions, you use the dative because it is not clear where the movement ends. Christine, for example, says: &#8220;Und ich gehe dann links in den Park <strong>hin<\/strong>ein.&#8221; And you also know the question words <strong>woher <\/strong>and <strong>wohin<\/strong> already. These two particles describe movements: <strong>hin<\/strong> is a motion away from the speaker, while <strong>her<\/strong> is a movement towards the speaker. If you tell your cats that they should <strong>herkommen<\/strong>, then they should move towards you. If you tell them\u00a0<strong>woanders hingehen<\/strong>, then they are supposed to move away from you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As you see in the examples above, you can combine\u00a0<em>hin<\/em> und <em>her <\/em>with other words.
